IPL NOW ON 70 MM

Multiplex in the city are gearing up to air IPL matches:

Theater owner are looking for a piece of the IPL pie with the Indian Premier League being a smash hit last year. A movie screen flanked by cheerleaders is one more place for Indian fans to watch the IPL's third edition.

Matches will be screened in multiplexes without any advertisements in between the T20 overs. Viewers will also be enertained by DJs, with multiplexes hoping to recreate the stadium atmosphere aided by high definition picture and dynamic sound.
Other multiplexes including Big Cinemas, PVR, Imax and Inox are also planning to scree matches.

Chandra Shekar, a professional DJ backs the concept. We Hyderabadis do need something to cheer us up after the cancellation of matches in the city. I know this is the second best option to watching a match live, but at least the atmosphere will be similarly charged. At a reasonable price and with no advertisemts, it does seem like a good deal, he says.

Some are apprehensive about watching matches in a multiplex though. Satish Rao, a student from Badruka college believes it stadium atmosphere. The concept sounds a little odd. I think cheerleaders and DJs would be distracting. Theatres are really not the place to watch a cricket match. Satish says he may give it a try but would rather stick to watching most matches from the comfort of his own home.
