Maryada Ramanna is the story of a plain-hearted man Ramu who is being chased by factionists for a murder committed by his father. The girl whom he meets on the train reveals she is in love with him and Ramu who until then was running for his life resolves to stand by her and also wins the enemy's heart. The love angle is just a part of the story where as the entire film shows how the protagonist escapes from the sword that hangs precariously on his neck.
